There was a bridge here,

Across the Hillsborough River at Van Dyke Street in the Sulfur Springs Area in Tampa, FL

It existed from 1891 to 1951

1909 picture from Library of Congress Archives, showing the bridge.

This is the monument on the north shore of the Hillsborough River. Few people know it is there.

This is a look across the river. The gap in the trees is Van Dyke Street, a brick road. If you ever go to Tampa, go by here. It is a pleasant, quiet spot, a block east of US 41. A good side trip for a roadtripper visiting nearby Busch Gardens. It is not well lit, so go during the daylight hours.
